Maude Sabourin, Grands Ballets Canadiens, Canada

Born in Canada, Maude began her training at the age of 13 at the École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, while also joining the Jeune Ballet du Québec in 2003.

A promising young dancer, she left her native land to join Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo under the direction of Jean-Christophe Maillot in 2006. Four years later, she was promoted to Soloist, and in 2013, she became Principal Dancer with the famous Monegasque company. In 2018, she left the south of France and joined Les Grands Ballets Canadiens as Principal.

During her brilliant career, Maude has worked with many renowned choreographers, adding considerably to her repertoire. Among them: Jean-Christophe Maillot, Jiri Kylian, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Johan Inger, William Forsythe, Marco Goecke, Marie Chouinard, Alexander Ekman, Nicolo Fonte, Maurice Béjart, Nijinski, Fokine, Garrett Smith, Guillaume Côté, Edward Clug, Marcia Haydee, …

In addition to her work as a dancer, Maude directed Garrett Smith’s ballet “Reveal” at the Teatro della Scala in Milan. She was also Hélène Blackburn’s choreographic assistant for “Coppélia” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and Marie Chouinard’s guest rehearsal director.

Concerned with the training of future generations, she is the founder of “The Dance Lab”, a teaching and choreographic laboratory enabling young dancers to experiment with multiple dance styles and pedagogical approaches with international professionals. Maude is a frequent guest teacher at the École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, where she trained.

A big heart dancer, Maude puts her passion and renown to good use for worthy causes. In June 2023, she organized a dance event in Istanbul to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. She is currently working on organizing a gala in June 2025 to raise funds and awareness for women victims of domestic violence.
